Schizolobium amazonicum is a tree species in the family Fabaceae. This family ranges in habit from giant tree to small annual herbs, with the majority being herbaceous perennials. The flowers have a short hypanthium and a single carpel with a short gynophore, and after fertilization produce fruits that are legumes.

It is present in the lowland Amazon forest of Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela
